  1. whatever the number is on the tab and on the string is the fret number on your guitar and dnt put your finger right on the frets put them next to the frets i suggest u start with chords
  2. G chord example: e------------3--------------- b------------3---------------- G-----------O--------------- D------------O--------------- A-----------2---------------- E-------------3------------- So the basic is, the lower case "e"(high e) is the smallest string or first string counting from bottom and then it goes "b" string,"G" "D" "A" and "low E" strings . so in this case you would put a finger on the 3 fret of the "high e" string. then another finger on the 3rd fret of the b string. The "O" means you play the string OPEN, with out and finger on any frets. So you would play the G and the D string open in this case. then on the A string you put a finger on the 2 fret and lastly on the low E string another finger on the third fret. In this example you are playing a G chord. So the numbers represent what fret you are going to play on that specific string. if the numbers(frets) are spaced out then you play each fret one by one, if the numbers(frets) are stacked up on each other then you play them all together. read this article maybe it help: http://guitar.about.com/library/blhowtoreadtab.htm Hope it helps and didnt confuse!!!!!
  3. Letters refer to the strings. Numbers refer to what fret is played on that particular string. A zero (0) means it's an open string. A number with an X means what fret, and how many times you play it. Whether you want it, or not, here it is. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=how+to+read+guitar+tabs&fr=ush-ans
  4. if u go on just about any site for tabs, theres always a link that says "how to read tabs" this 1's pretty simple. its where i learned from. http://www.fretplay.com/how-to-read-tabs.php and ps, the bottom E on the tabs, is the top E (the biggest string) on ur guitar
