What can I do with a degree in music - guitar?

My guitar teacher has one, and i was just curious what am i able to do with a degree in music. Can i get a good job if i do? Should i go for it if it's what i'd like to do. I usually play 3 or 4 hours of guitar a day and i want to go some where with it. What should i do?

  1. Sell Pizzas. Just kidding, but seriously... 1. Teach 2. Compose 3. Play You make the most as a teacher typically unless you are exceptionally gifted and don't want a family.

  4. Either play in band, or teach, or both. After 20 years or so you might get some studio work.
  5. make sound tracks for movies, play in a band, give private lessons, take up music therapy and work at a hospital. It might help if you got on the web site of one of the more popular colleges for music - take a look at the different courses they offer

  7. I think you should minor in it... I play the piano and make a little money doing it but I also have three kids and a wife to feed all you can really do is make side money or teach that doesn't open a lot of doors for you I Need MONEY!!
  8. Learn how to handle a shovel. Getting "signed" doesn't mean anything anymore. If you make music I like, I'll download it for free from the internet. Music is an art. It is creating beauty for the sake of beauty. Do not expect to get paid for it unless you are willing to be a teacher. The Music "Industry" is over. Learn how to handle a shovel if that is your academic dream. Want to get paid? Learn how to build things that people need, not make things we enjoy while drunk.
