how do you read bass guitar tabs?

1. The numbers on the bottom are your top string. Your E. From bottom to top, the tabs go EADG. It looks like that song is in a drop tuning though. So you have to tune down to a Drop C#. Just kinda read the tab upside down i guess. Bottom line on the tab refers to your top, fattest string. Also...the "h" between numbers is a hammer-on. You just move you finger to that next fret without plucking the string.
2. The notes are set up from highest to lowest, so it will look something like this D|-------------------- B|-------------------- A|---0-0-0---------- E|5---6---7--------- The numbers are the fret you play going towards the frame from the head. So the on the E string, the 0 would be open, 1 would be an F, 2 an F# and so on. Same thing on the other strings but they're different notes. Its kind of a rough description, but good luck!
